Shape: Multi-stemmed creeping shrub
Leaf/Branch Arrangement: Alternate
Flower: White – pink simple shaped, 5 petals
Leaves: evergreen, leathery, ¾-4 inches long, ½-2 inches wide, oval, potentially covered in rusty colored stiff hairs
Bark: young bark with rusty colored hairs, older bark flaky
Fruit/Seed: round berry, ¼ inch diameter, covered in glandular hairs, filled with fleshy and white tissue
Height: 1-3 inches
Flowering: April - May
Habitat: pine forests, savannas, bogs
