Shape: Tree
Flower: cone, male; cylindrical, rounded tips, ½-3/4 inch long, in dense clusters at base of new branches, female; small, roundish, deep pink/purple, at tips of new branches
Leaves: evergreen, rounded needles, bundles of 2, 4-7 inches long, straight
Bark: grey/brown, patches of red, loose and scaly plates
Fruit/Seed: cone, egg-shaped, 3/8-2 ¼ inches long
Height: 60-120 feet
Flowering: June
Habitat: upland forest, savanna, barrens
Other: Minnesota state tree
