Description ²

• Shape: Small woody plant
• Leaf/Branch Arrangement: Opposite
• Flower: Pink and white, paired, bell shaped, 5 petals
• Leaves: evergreen, oval, 1/3 to 2/3 inch long, ¼ to nearly 2/3 inch wide, sparsely hairy on upper surface, nearly smooth underneath, tapering to short stalk
• Height: 3-6 inches
• Flowering: June - August
• Habitat: cool northern forest
