Leaf/Branch Arrangement: Alternate
Flower: White simple shaped, 5 petals
Leaves: oval with pointed tip, 2-3 ½ inches long, ¾-1 ½ inches wide, shallow rounded teeth
Bark: shiny red/brown-gray, conspicuous horizontal lenticels, peels in horizontal strips
Fruit/Seed: shiny, bright red cherry, ¼ diameter
Height: 20-35 feet
Flowering: May - June
Habitat: open woods, forest edges and openings
