• Shape: Understory tree
• Leaf/Branch Arrangement: Alternate
• Flower: White elongated cluster
• Leaves: oval, abruptly pointed tip, 2 ½-4 inches long, 1-2 1/3 inches wide, finely serrated
• Bark: brown/grey, smooth with pale lenticels
• Fruit/Seed: red/purple – black berry, 1/3 inch diameter
• Height: 10-25 feet
• Flowering: May - June
• Habitat: open woods, forest edges and openings, fencerows, riverbanks, roadsides
