Shape: Multi- stemmed shrub
Leaf/Branch Arrangement: Alternate
Flower: White rounded cluster
Leaves: roughly spade shaped, 3 lobed, coarsely toothed, 1 ½-5 inches long, 1-3 inches wide
Bark: brown, mostly smooth, turns gray, older bark peels in papery strips
Fruit/Seed: 3 to 5 inflated, green-red, 1/3 inch long capsules
Height: 2-8 feet
Flowering: May August
Habitat:cliffs, shores, bluffs, steam banks, moist woods
