Lives by lakes, rivers, bays, canals and fjords throughout south and central America
Not the same species as the one encountered in North America
A mating ritual involves the male ringed kingfisher offering fish to the female before copulation
Catch their prey (fishes) by diving from a perch, can perch for several hours on trees while watching for prey in the freshwater
