Phortica variegata

Phortica variegata is a type of vinegar fly in the Drosophiliadae family. It feeds on the lacrimal secretion of animals (from the tear ducts), and are known host of roundworms, and can pass them down to the mammal they are feeding on. Little is known about their lifecycle, but the adult, and perhaps even the larvae, can pass down the roundworm parasite.
