鸟是两足、恒温、卵生的脊椎动物，身披羽毛，前肢演化成翅膀，具有坚硬的喙。鸟纲在生物分类学上是脊椎动物亚门下的一个纲。因其身体被羽毛覆盖，中国古代动物学将其统称为羽蟲。
