Chinook salmon(Oncorhynchus tshawytscha) are a popular sport fish. Originally from the Pacific Northwest. Now found in the big lakes. Will swim up rivers in the fall to reproduce, then the adults die afterward. A large top-level predator that feeds predominantly on alewives.

How to recognize: Small fleshy fin on the back in front of the tail. Small black dots on the body. Scattered small black dots on the upper and lower lobes of the tail. Entire inside of mouth is black. Up to 4 feet /1.2 meters long.
