White perch(Morone americanac) are originally from the eastern United States, they dispersed into the Great Lakes through various canals. Most common in the big lakes, but can be found in inland lakes as well. Can be locally abundant. Some anglers enjoy fishing for them, but they are not too popular. There is concern that they may compete with native fishes, like the White Bass or Yellow Perch.

How to recognize: Silvery. Does NOT have thin black stripes running from the head to the tail. Two fins on the back, the first supported by stiff spines, and the second supported by soft rays. The two fins are slightly connected. Three spines on the leading edge of the fin behind the anus; the first spine short, the second and third spines roughly the same length. Up to 1 foot /0.3 meters long.
