Recognisable by the golden lines that run down the length of its light green body. Lives in groups over sandy, muddy and rocky bottoms, as well as seagrass meadows.

Are toxic to when eaten causing hallucinations.

Also known as Salema Porgy, Saupe or Rabbitfish.

Distribution 3

It is relatively common off the coasts of South Africa, Tenerife, Malta and Cyprus, but has occasionally been found as far north as Great Britain.
