Description of cochlodinium ⁴

Gymnodiniid dinoflagellate, body twisted at least 1.5 turns; cingulum and sulcus spiral around cell; marine and heterotrophic.

Description: Unarmoured cells with cingulum rotating more than 1.5x. Single cells or chain-forming, with or without chloroplasts. Encystment common.
