Wings about as large as the keel, exerted beyond the calyx; Calyx and inflorescence axis with a dense, floccose indumentum of stellate hairs at least when young; Calyx splitting behind the standard petal and held below the keel, with 3 apical appendages.

E. variegata like E. madagascariensis, has a stellate indumentum, a spathaceous calyx ang wing petals as large as the keel.
