Megacephala virginica is a species of ground beetle in the subfamily of Carabinae that was described by Linnaeus in 1766, and could be found in Mexico and the United States. They are of black colour.

Locality: Native, New World. Mexico- Tabasco; USA- AL, AR, DC, DE, FL, GA, IA, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MD, MI, MO, MS, NC, NE, NJ, OK, OH, SC, TN, VA, WI, WV.

Notes: Members of this species have been proposed as a natural control predator of mole cricket pests on golf courses.
