The green water snake(Nerodia cyclopion) is a common species of nonvenomous natricine snake endemic to the southeastern United States.

Range description 8

This species is endemic to the southern United States. Its range extends on the Coastal Plain from extreme western Florida and southern Alabama to southeastern Texas, and north in the Mississippi Valley to extreme southeastern Missouri and southern Illinois (Barbour 1971, Dundee and Rossman 1989, Conant and Collins 1991, Phillips et al. 1999, Johnson 2000, Werler and Dixon 2000, Ernst and Ernst 2003, Gibbons and Dorcas 2004, Trauth et al. 2004).
