A shrub or small sized tree, 2-4 m tall. Stem and branches rugose, bark ash-grey, young shoots pale hairy. Leaves with 2-6 mm long, upwardly dilated, densely hairy petiole; lamina with scattered stellate hairs above, hoary tomentose and whitish-grey beneath, narrowly lanceolate to ovate, 1.2-5 cm long, 0.8-2.2 cm broad, 3-costate, unequal sided, obtuse-oblique at the base, minutely serrate, obtuse; stipules falcate, 8-10 (-15) mm long, villous. Cyme 2-3-flowered, axillary, peduncles solitary, rarely 2 or 3, longer than petiole. Flowers yellow, c. 1.5 cm across; pedicel 8-10 mm long, pale hairy; bracts linear-lanceolate, c. 5 mm long. Sepals linear-oblong, 12-13 mm long, c. 3 mm broad, stellate hairy outside. Petals oblong-obovate, claw c. 1.5 mm long, with white gland, hairy, limb 4.5-5.5 mm long, c. 2 mm broad, notched at the apex. Stamens c. 40 in 2 whorls, filaments 4-5.5 mm long. Ovary 1-2-lobed, densely hairy; style clavate, 6-7 mm long, stigma bilobed. Drupe slightly succulent, globose, rarely 2-lobed, 6-8 mm across, almost glabrous.
