NOT venomous. Small head slightly wider than neck, glossy keeled scales, round pupils. Body is brown to olive brown turning to tan on the sides and belly. Typically less than 2 feet (61cm) in length. (J. R. Dixon and J. E. Werler, Texas Snakes: A Field Guide, University of Texas Press, 2000.)
