Habitat and ecology 3

Habitat and Ecology

This species can be a primary, secondary or tertiary burrower depending on the population (Bouchard 1978). This species is also found in streams (Hobbs 1989). Taylor and Schuster (2004) also found this species in rivers and creeks of all sizes. It has also been reported that juveniles in Mississippi are common in streams which dry seasonally (Adams 2008).
Bouchard (1978) also found a female in a subterranean cavern in Alabama.
