Global Range: (1000-5000 square km (about 400-2000 square miles)) This species is endemic to the Green River drainage of north-central Tennessee and central Kentucky (Hobbs, 1989).

This species is usually found in moderately flowing water (Rhoades 1944), and is known to occur under cobble sized rocks (S. Adams, G. Schuster and C. Taylor pers. comm. 2009).

Although this species has a relatively restricted range, with an extent of occurrence of approximately 15409 km2, it is common to abundant in suitable habitat and has no major threat processes impacting upon it. Further research is required to determine the abundance of this species, and whether it is being impacted upon by any major threat processes.
