Agave (US: /əˈɡɑːviː/, UK: /əˈɡeɪviː/, Anglo-Hispanic: /əˈɡɑːveɪ/) is a genus of monocots. The plants are perennial, but each rosette flowers once and then dies (see semelparity). Some species are known by the name century plant.
