Oscillatoria

Oscillatoria is a genus in the taxonomic order Oscillatoriales. All members of this order are characterized by coin-like cells joined end-to-end to form simple, unbranched filaments. Oscillatoria is common in freshwater phytoplankton assemblages, and may form dense blooms.
