● Thought to have colonized in Hawaii after Polynesian settlers built their fishponds and agricultural features
● Juveniles will keep brown plumage until their first breeding season
● Roosts with Cattle Egrets during nesting season
● Can be predatory to coot and stilt chicks during nesting season
