● On ground in bare dirt, short and tall grass, and open shrub lands
● At the edges of ponds and along the boardwalk
● Perched on snags and outer branches of shrubs and trees
● In flight above the ponds, above the shrubland and forest canopy
● Imported on 1959 to control rodents and flies
● They roost in thorny thickets during nesting season with as many as 200 birds in a tree
● Known to swallow chicks of other birds in one gulp
