Cycas revoluta (Sotetsu , sago palm, king sago, sago cycad, Japanese sago palm), is a species of gymnosperm in the family Cycadaceae, native to southern Japan including the Ryukyu Islands. It is one of several species used for the production of sago, as well as an ornamental plant.

Range description 8

This species is widely distributed through the Ryukyu Islands of southern Japan and also on the southern parts of Kyushu Island. There are reports of natural occurrences in the coastal Fujian Province of China. These have not been substantiated, although circumstantial support for these claims are strong. Recorded from sea level up to 300 m.
