Bougainvillea (/ˌbuːɡɪnˈvɪliə/ or /ˌboʊɡɪnˈvɪliə/) is a genus of thorny ornamental vines, bushes, and trees with flower-like spring leaves near its flowers. Different authors accept between four and 18 species in the genus. They are native plants of North Africa.
