Length:51-67mm; Wingspan 72-82mm
Along with robust skimmer, the largest in the region. Mature ♂︎ dark blue/blackish.
All ages and sexes easily distinguished by the narrow, tapering waist.
♀ abd imm♂︎ are yellow with black markings (not olive as with robust skimmer).
The pterostigma is long and pale.
