Summary 2

The largest of Wisconsin's shrew species. Size and nearly black color differentiate it from Wisconsin's other shrew species. Also note the long tail. This is the only shrew species in Wisconsin that will regularly swim, in fact it is capable of running on the water's surface for short periods.

Northern half of the state.

Habitat 3

Near water bodies of any kind.
