Wisconsin's smallest squirrel species. Rare within its limited range in WI. Distinguished from Eastern Chipmunk by smaller size, lack of chestnut rump, more prominent face stripes, and stripes that go all the way across the back and to the tail. Unlike Eastern Chipmunk, can be seen in winter.

Far northern areas of the state.

Rocky coniferous forest.
