Summary 2

Formerly common, now quite rare. Brown body with gray head unique. Also note grizzled appearance and tail significantly less fluffy than that of Eastern Gray or Fox Squirrels. Not seen during winter, when hibernating.

Range 3

Western half of the state.

Habitat 3

Prairies, oak savannas, and pine barrens.

Size 3

8-10", tail 5-6"
