The superb jewelwing (Calopteryx amata) is a species of damselfly in the family Calopterygidae. It is native to North America, where it is distributed in eastern Canada and the northeastern United States as far south as Tennessee. The males are metallic green with some amber on their wings. The females are bronze with green wings, tipped with white. Both sexes are about 2 inches long.
They are typically found in clear rivers and streams with nearby vegetation, and often share habitat and are seen near dragonflies of the genus Ophiogomphus. However, the males can be territorial.
