The African Plains exhibit in the Bronx Zoo displays some signature species from the northern region of Africa.

Spotted Hyena

They are hunt their prey but will also eat what is left from others. Their main source of food are wildebeest, antelope, birds, lizards, snakes, and insects.

Giraffe

Aardvark

The Aardvark at the Bronx Zoo is found in the Carter Giraffe Building. It lives in a feather small enclosure found in a dark room (due to the Aardvark being a nocturnal animal), between the Girrafe enclosure and the exit of the building.

Lion

African Lions are found in the south Sahara desert and in various parts of southern and eastern Africa. They live in arid climates.

Painted Hunting Dog

African wild dogs reside in dense woodlands, mountainous areas, savannas, shrub lands and grasslands. They like to be in dry regions with lots of prey.
