Birds of the Yakutat Ranger District, Tongass National Forest

This is a current list of birds recorded in the area of Yakutat, Alaska. Note that each species is categorized by their frequency to the area as well as habitats they may be found in. Category definitions are as follows:
Common- occurs in most suitable habitats during appropriate seasons, with certain species at times quite abundant
Fairly Common- occurs in some or most suitable habitats during appropriate seasons, but less abundant and fewer at times
Uncommon- small numbers in suitable habitats and seasons; occasionally found
Rare- either very restricted habitat, or considered to occur most years in very small numbers; difficult to find
Very Rare- includes casual and accidental; not observed most years but may be expected to recur
Potential- species expected in range but inadequate surveying has been done, or incomplete records exist less ↑
