Cook Strait giant weta

Deinacrida rugosa, commonly called the Cook Strait giant weta, is a species of insect in the family Anostostomatidae. The scientific name "Deinacrida" means "terrible grasshopper" and "rugosa" means "wrinkled". It is endemic to New Zealand.

Huhu

The huhu beetle, Prionoplus reticularis is the largest endemic beetle found in New Zealand, a member of the longhorn beetle family (Cerambycidae).
