Cook Strait giant weta

Deinacrida rugosa, commonly called the Cook Strait giant weta, is a species of insect in the family Anostostomatidae. The scientific name "Deinacrida" means "terrible grasshopper" and "rugosa" means "wrinkled". It is endemic to New Zealand.
