This guide is to support the Murfreesboro Indigenous Plant Project by highlighting locally native plants that lend themselves to landscape uses as well as provide important ecosystem functions.
About MIPP:
An initiative of the Outdoor Murfreesboro Natural Resource Division, MIPP promotes the conservation, preservation, and landscape use of plants native to the Inner Nashville Basin. We source seeds locally whenever possible, and grow them in our nursery to use in city park landscaping, wildlife habitat restoration, and public plant sales. our iNat project helps us identify potential local sources of seed which we can draw upon. All our harvesting is done sustainably and with the landowner's permission.
If you are interested in helping us in this work, please join our project. If you are interested in granting us access to your land to collect seed, please email naturalresources@murfreesborotn.gov.
