Leather Star

The leather star, Dermasterias imbricata, is a starfish in the family Asteropseidae found at depths to 100 m off the western seaboard of North America.

Blood Stars

Henricia is a large genus of slender-armed sea stars belonging to the family Echinasteridae. It contains about fifty species.

Six-rayed Star

Leptasterias hexactis is a species of starfish in the family Asteriidae, commonly known as the six-rayed star. It is found in the intertidal zone of the western seaboard of the United States. It is a predator and is unusual among starfish in that it broods its eggs and young.

Red Sea Urchin

The red sea urchin (Mesocentrotus franciscanus) is a sea urchin found in the northeastern Pacific Ocean from Alaska to Baja California. It lives in shallow waters from the low-tide line to greater than 100 m (330 ft) deep, and is typically found on rocky shores sheltered from extreme wave action.

Pacific Purple Sea Urchin

The purple sea urchin, Strongylocentrotus purpuratus, lives along the eastern edge of the Pacific Ocean extending from Ensenada, Mexico to British Columbia, Canada. This sea urchin species is deep purple in color, eggs are orange when secreted in water, and lives in lower inter-tidal and nearshore sub-tidal communities.
