Portland Audubon and Columbia Land Trust have teamed up to create the Backyard Habitat Certification Program, a unique program that supports urban gardeners in their efforts to create natural backyard habitats.
Noxious weeds threaten the health of our natural areas. The Backyard Habitat Certification Program will help you learn to identify and remove the most damaging of these plant species.
One of the "Five Elements of Backyard Habitats" is noxious weeds. This iNaturalist guide serves as an educational resource to program participants as well as the general public. It’s through our collective efforts to transform urban landscapes that positive change is made. Together we make our cities a healthier place, for ourselves and for wildlife. Our community of Backyard Habitats is over 9,000 strong, and growing every day!
Noxious Weeds By Certification Level:
- SILVER Level Weeds - Remove all “silver” aggressive weeds
- GOLD Level Weeds - Remove all “silver & gold” aggressive weeds
- PLATINUM Level Weeds - Remove all three levels of aggressive weeds
