Fish of Alberta

The St Mary River Sculpin isn't added because it hasn't been described. Banff Longnose Dace and Jewel Cichlid have also not been added because they are extinct/extirpated. The Athabasca Rainbow Trout has also not been added because it is a variant and not a subspecies. Smallmouth Bass have also not been added since while they were introduced into Island Lake, there numbers dwindled and there have been no records of any sightings/catches of them since atleast the year 2000, despite Island Lake being a frequently fished lake. I'm also not adding the Sheefish/Nelma because it's never been recorded in Alberta and it's exact southern limit in the Mackenzie Drainage Basin is unknown. less ↑
