This is a simple guide to the moth species most often encountered so far in Hong Kong...... It can be used in conjunction with the Hong Kong Moths Recording Project on i-Naturalist.
As the iNaturalist guides are limited to 500 species, it is not possible to do all of Hong Kong's moths in one iNat guide.
This is planned as the first in a series of iNat guides to the moths (some 2,500 species at present) known to occur in Hong Kong.
Moths in Hong Kong Part 2 - species restricted to Hong Kong
In due course all species' write ups will eventually be made Hongkongcentric. Notes on key identification points, ecology, phenology, systematics and other similar species are slowly being added. Take a look at Syntomoides imaon as an example of where this guide is heading....
Species in this guide are listed in taxonomic order to subfamily or tribe, where known, and alphabetically therein.
