Glyphipterix scintilella was described by Francis Walker in 1864. It belongs to the family Glyphipterigidae and is endemic to New Zealand. Adults can be found during the day resting on Elatostema rugosom and Carex dissita in forest clearings from October to March.

Glyphipterix tungella was described by Cajetan Felder, Rudolf Felder and Alois Friedrich Rogenhofer in 1875. It belongs to the family Glyphipterigidae and is endemic to New Zealand. Glyphipterix dichorda

Glyphipterix dichorda (Meyrick, 1911). Endemic.

G. dichorda is a larger, darker, much smarter-looking species than tungella, with distinctly broader hindwings. It has the second dorsal streak on the forewing distinctly longer than the first while in tungella these streaks are of equal length.

Adults can be collected in September and October but are more numerous in March and April. They fly at night and come to light.
