Beetles that appear in South Central Pennsylvania across a variety of habitats. Not professional, just for the fondness of beetles. All taxa I have found personally. Guide is a work in progress.

Six-spotted Tiger Beetle

The six-spotted tiger beetle, also known as the six-spotted green tiger beetle (Cicindela sexguttata), is a common North American species of ground beetle in the Cicindelinae subfamily.

Strawberry Root Weevil

Otiorhynchus ovatus, also called the Strawberry Root Weevil, is one of the many species in the weevil family (Curculionidae). Its name comes from its affinity for strawberry plants, which form a large part of its diet. They are, however, known to feed on other plants as well. It is known to be one of the major pests threatening sub-tropical strawberry farming.

Spotted Lady Beetle

Coleomegilla maculata, commonly known as the spotted lady beetle, pink spotted lady beetle or twelve-spotted lady beetle, is a large coccinellid beetle native to North America. The adults and larvae feed primarily on aphids and the species has been used as a biological control agent.
