Borneo is one of the worlds largest islands. It is an ecological hotspot that is threatened by deforestation and land use change. Palm oil plantations are replacing the virgin forests that support a diverse and interesting ecosystem.
There are more species of mammals than can be covered here. I have selected many examples but large groups are skipped over, bats of one.

Borneo is home to mammals small and large form shrews to elephants. The Orangutan maybe Borneo's most iconic animal but the comic looking Proboscis monkey also calls the forests home. less ↑
