This is guide was developed for early detection of invasive (non-plant) species, or document range expansions of invasive species on the Eldorado National Forest.
While invasive species can be benign (meaning they cause no known harm to native species), many can become problematic. Invasive species often out compete native species for resources because they have no predators or disease that limit their population in their new habitat. In some instances invasive species feed upon native species.
Please do not move invasive species if you encounter them report your findings to the ENF biologists either via the iNaturalist app or contact the Eldorado National Forest (https://www.fs.usda.gov/main/eldorado/home). Phone numbers are listed for each of the Ranger Districts and the Supervisor's Office, please provide the following: GPS coordinates; location (eg. lake name, trail etc.); date; photo (if possible); your contact information.
