Spiders of Missouri

The Spiders included in this guide are ones that I have frequently encountered in our area. Most of these are also common throughout the eastern U.S.

This guide is limited to about 50 species , so that the number of images would be easier to scan to make an ID.
With the diversity in our area possible to encounter, you are likely to find individuals that are not included here.

There is a lot of variation in appearance of spiders even within the same species! (Juvenile, adult, male, female, etc.) Note that I might have several images for a species; you might need to click or scroll to view these. Males and females might look completely different from each other. In this case I put the gender most likely to be encountered as the "top" image. I have made an effort to select images that are representative of what I have observed.

This guide is a work in progress and so continuing changes and improvements to this is to be expected.
