The East African Black Mud Turtle (Pelusios subniger) is a species of turtle in the Pelomedusidae family. It is found in Botswana, Burundi, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Gambia, Guadeloupe, Madagascar, Mauritius, Mozambique, Sao Tomé and Principe, Seychelles, Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

The Aldabra giant tortoise (Aldabrachelys gigantea), from the islands of the Aldabra Atoll in the Seychelles, is one of the largest tortoises in the world. This species is widely referred to as Aldabrachelys gigantea but has also been placed in the genus Dipsochelys as Dipsochelys dussumieri.
