California Bay

Umbellularia californica a thriving dicot; a large hardwood tree native to coastal forests of California and slightly extended into the state of Oregon. It is endemic to the California Floristic Province. It is the sole species in the genus Umbellularia.

Slender Thistle

Carduus tenuiflorus, a dicot, it is an annual herb that is not native to California; it was introduced from elsewhere and naturalized in the wild. It was naturalized in Macaronesia, South Africa, India, Australasia, Southern South America, regions of the United States, and elsewhere.
