Common weeds of South Florida (Hierbas malas del sur de la Florida)

A collection of the common weeds you can find growing in South Florida... this guide focuses on small plants that tend to grow in urban and suburban areas and are often pulled or killed with chemicals by property owners. They pop up on lawns, vacant lots, in cracks in the sidewalk, in parks, along canal banks etc. Some are more likely to show up in certain areas than others. They are almost always wild!

I'm sure there are plenty of plants that I have overlooked and this is based solely on my experience using iNaturalist to documents plants in different parts of South Florida. Because I avoid landscaped/cultivated plants, weeds are always a target for me when I go out to look for organisms to document with iNaturalist.
