Wildlife of State Forest State Park

State Forest State Park lies on 71,000 acres of land 80 miles west of Fort Collins and comprises the southernmost point of the Medicine Bow Mountain Range. This park makes up the largest parcel in Colorado's state parks system. It is also surrounded by the Routt National Forest, Roosevelt National Forest, Rawah Wilderness, and Rocky Mountain National Park, making State Forest one piece in an even larger area of public land. Spruce-fir, lodgepole pine and aspen forests exist throughout the park and montane, subalpine, and tundra ecosystems are present, making State Forest one of the few state parks in Colorado to support tundra species. less ↑
