Sopping wet, very soft
Growing near lodgepole pines and Douglas-firs.

Descriptive Notes:
-Habitat/Growth Pattern: Growing in large clusters from dead standing tree. Nearby habitat included mostly conifer trees including Douglas fir or western hemlock. Other nearby vegetation included sword ferns, skunk cabbage, and salmon berry bushes.
-Cap: Medium to large cap about 9-10cm in length. Light brown becoming darker brown in color towards center of cap. Cap has small scales or fibers especially towards center and striations towards margin.
-Cap Margin: Slightly wavy and curving under.
-Gills: close, light brown to dull yellow in color, attached to stipe
-Stipe: Curved and widened toward base, white to light brown in color with white vertical fibers, and slight ring that is fragile or torn looking.
